If your desktop looks like this

Then click on the yellow box with the time and type (or paste) coreshellchanger

This will popup a box for switching to Explorer.

Logoff, login and your back to Explorer.

If you wish to try again we can help you try to figure out what went wrong Smile

Hi Deyna

Welcome to the Emerge Desktop forum.

Can you describe what didn't work?

Did you use the installer for version 5.0?

I also had the same problem, and this really helped.
I gather it is not supposed to happen?

For the clueless ones:
1. click the yellow time panel,
2. type "run" and hit enter
3. select browse and browse for emergeDesktop.exe (should be in the folder you installed it in)
4. run!
5. happy times.

Now let's see what we can do with this.

PostPosted: Sat Aug 28, 2010 5:25 pm    Post subject: Start and right click menus do not work Reply with quote

I just installed this on my 64 bit win7 laptop and neither the start menu or the right click menus work.
as in when I try to click on the start menu or right click on the desktop nothing happens... at all.

I tried the solution in the forum of running the emergedesktop.exe, but I do not find that executable in the install folder or anywhere.

any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

emergeDesktop.exe was renamed to emergeWorkspace.exe

Try running emergeWorkspace, but I suspect that your antivirus/spyware is blocking eD.

If you are running Comodo Internet Security (aka CIS) or Panda you need to add Emerge Desktop to the Safe Files list before setting it as shell.

Thanks for the quick response. I don't normally run the win7 side of my laptop and so it took me a couple of days to go back and try your solution.

I read about emerge desktop in the linux journal and thought I would try it for the few times/week I boot into that OS. So far , very nice! I look forward to playing with it a bit.

Thanks for the help!
