|
|
Hello everyone at Emerge Desktop.
This is my first post here, but I've been using Emerge Desktop for several months now with immense satisfaction. One day I thought I'd spruce up my desktop and downloaded a few shell replacements. Emerge Desktop came out quickly as the winner and I've been using it ever since. There might me some things to iron out, but it is very user-friendly, manageable and editable. My desktop has never looked so good!
Now, on to business. I was advocating Emerge Desktop on another forum just now, and got a question from somebody who had installed Emerge Desktop on my suggestion. The question was:
How do I access the Recycle Bin in Emerge Desktop?
Since I don't regularly use the Recycle Bin (I usually Shift + Del my files so they don't go to the Recycle Bin), I looked up how to access it in Emerge Desktop. I found a few ways and communicated them to the new user. Then I thought: I might as well post them here, since it took some time to find some of them. This could serve as an all-in-one resource for how to access the Recycle Bin. So: on to the answer.
I found 4 ways to access the Recycle Bin. If there are more, or if one of my ways can be accessed simpler, be my guest and post your suggestion so I can edit my list. Without further ado, here they are:
- Find it in Windows Explorer, or the file explorer you use. Just open a folder and go all the way up until you reach the Desktop folder. The Recycle Bin icon should still be there.
- Add it to your Right-Click Menu or Middle-Click Menu:
Settings -> Edit Desktop Menus -> Add Item -> Type: Special Folder -> Value Recycle Bin.
- Add it to emergeLauncher, so it appears as an icon on your desktop again:
Ctrl + Right-click emergeLauncher -> Configure -> Add Item -> Execute: ::{645ff040-5081-101b-9f08-00aa002f954e} -> Icon: choose a suitable one -> Tip: if you want a tooltip -> Save Item -> OK
- The final way is not really a way to access the Recycle Bin, but a very easy way to empty it:
Type "emptybin" without the quotes into emergeCommand (the clock), this will empty the Recycle Bin (it will first show the regular confirmation window).
I hope this helps some of you.

Hi Dzjudz! Welcome to the ED Fórum!
Here is another way, or two :
1) Better way of doing your 3rd option: instead of Executable ::etc just type Recycle Bin in the Executable field. No need to choose Icon. The system default is used.
2) Just type Recycle Bin in emergeCommand (not the Run box)
Thank you for your contribution! |

Sorry if this is a newbie question, or has been answered elsewhere...
Is it possible to put a link to a folder in the emergeLauncher? I've tried adding an executable with the folder as the target, nothing seems to work.
EDIT: Sorry also for bumping this old thread, it was what I got when I googled "emergelauncher open folder icon" and I didn't notice how old it was.
Thanks,

Hi country.hacker
Welcome to the Emerge Desktop forum.
If you update to the latest installer (5.0) your problem will be solved. Don't forget to use the included reg2xml program to migrate your current Theme.
Have fun!
(IMO It is always better to reuse an old post) _________________
