Hey, new user to Emerge. Love the simplicity and customization of the shell.
But, I've got some problems here. I'm running Windows 7 x86, used the correct installer.
I'm missing some icons in my tray, don't really care about most other than the icon which allows me to easily change the volume of my speakers and the connect to a network icon.
Now, I can work around the volume issue, though i'd like the convience of at least being able to easily see the status of my speakers, as I go between classes and home a lot, and can't run the risk of random noises blaring out.
Also, I can't work without connect to a network. I also can't load the link through control panel, so I can't change networks, which is just something I can't work without obviously.
Less of a problem is that my touchpad doesnt scroll through windows. I saw another thread about this, but saw no resolution to the problem.
Thanks for the great shell, I really hope to keep using it if I can get these problems fixed!
EDIT: Also, I've tried to set winamp's visualization to desktop mode, and it just flashes randomly in and out. Not sure if this is a big concern for you, but it doesn't work correctly.

Hi Cytota
Welcome to the Emerge Desktop forum!
Since you mentioned that you used the correct installer, you are probably using version 4.1.3
Please update to version 4.2.0.2771 following the Installation instructions on this topic

Please let us know if any bugs remain. _________________

So I -finally- updated emerge, and it's running great, I don't have a problem with it other than my backgrounds.
As far as working with windows, it's great. But, I like to use a neat little program called Yodm 3D. It basically gives me 4 desktops, which are presented as a rotating cube. In normal windows, I have a seperate background on my desktops so that I can easily distinguish what I'm using each desktop for.
Is there any function similar to this in emerge?
And I totally understand there's no way you can provide a fix for this one single niche-program, I'm not asking for one. :p
Just wanna know if there's anyway I can have multiple desktops with seperate backgrounds. Or if there's someway to tweak Emerge to work with a desktop manager.
Thanks for the great work! |

Too late! Now you need to update again to 4.2.1.135
BTW I just tested Yod'm portable version of the last free build (v1.4) and it works perfectly under eD
Actually I might even switch from VirtuaWin (which does all that you mentioned...) _________________

I switched to the latest edition, but for some reason, Yodm3d just doesn't work O_o.
It's also the case that, the winamp plugin milkdrop doesn't work. at all. might be winamp (it's half-stupid, honestly)
EDIT:
So, the plugin works, but putting it into desktop mode (where it acts as a background) does not. Fullscreen works too. It's not an issue between winamp and Yodm3d, as it works just fine with that (though it gets choppy). |
