|
|
Hello all
I'm having some problems with refreshing my file manager (Directory Opus) when working with removable devices (USB, SD, etc) it doesn't automatically refresh the view unless I make a F5. Same thing for "Safely remove devices" icon in the sys tray, it does remove the device but with no confirmation.
Everything goes correct when I go back to Explorer shell.
Any ideas? _________________ TOSHIBA Portege M700, Intel Core2 DUO, T8100 @ 2.1GHz, 2,0GB RAM

This is a know limitation. Because the autorun feature is handled by explorer, some programs that use this will not be notified that a new device is connected. This is both a problem and an advantage. On the positive side: it prevents virus loaded by the Autorun file to be executed automatically when you insert an infected pen

There is a confirmation (if you mouse over the tray icon you will see the confirmation). The popup message just doesn't popup as it does under explorer. This should be fixed, if possible... _________________

Just by chance, you don't know how I can replace that "Autorun"?
Maybe a third-party program or script?
I do really need an automatic refresh on my file manager
Do you think its something you will work on for future releases of ED?

The issue also appears with Explorer (i.e. it doesn't reflect the media when a CD is inserted). Opening the CD drive will show the content, but the CD icon and title does not update automatically when a CD is inserted. It's not AutoRun per se, since autorun just executes specific files when the new media is detected. It's more to do with figuring out how new media is detected and how to alert file managers that new media has been inserted.
I'll have to do some message tracing to find out what's different when running under Explorer versus when running under eD. |

| Interestingly enough, it just worked for me using explorer as a file manager. I'll have to look at Directory Opus. |

My finding for Directory Opus is that it's just the left hand panel (the tree view of the drives) that doesn't correctly update. This is a known issue at this point and unfortunately Microsoft isn't overly forthcoming regarding information around how a shell should facilitate this.
I spent quite a bit of time on this ages ago and gave up. Once I get a few things off of my to-do list (like a new release ), I'll take a look at this again. |
